Running back Roc Thomas will not be with the Vikings for the start of the 2019 season.

On Tuesday the NFL announced the 23-year-old had been suspended for the first three games of the NFL season for violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

The suspension is a result of a felony marijuana arrest for which he received probation. Thomas was found to be in possession of 143 grams of marijuana in his Mendota Heights home in January.

Thomas was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted rookie in 2018. He made his debut for the team in Week 4 and amassed eight carries for 30 yards and two receptions for 21 yards in his rookie season.

Thomas will be available in Week 4 when the Vikings face the Bears in Chicago.
