Chris Herndon will not be with the Jets when the 2019 season begins.

On Friday the NFL announced the suspension of the 23-year-old for violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

The suspension comes as a result of a June 2018 car crash. Herndon pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in January.

Herndon can practice and participate in training camp and through the preseason but will not be available to play until October 7th.

Tight end Daniel Brown will likely start for the Jets until Herndon's return from suspension.
