Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker Marquis Spruill is out for the season with a left knee injury.
The 23-year-old tore his ACL late during Wednesday's practice, the team announced Thursday. Spruill had to be helped off the field by two members of the Falcons medical staff.
Spruill was a rookie out of Syracuse. The 6-foot, 224 pound lineman played all four years for the Orange and was drafted in the fifth round. He was working as a reserve inside linebacker when the injury occurred.
The Falcons have already lost Sean Weatherspoon to a season ending Achilles injury leaving Paul Worrilow and Joplo Bartu and rookie Prince Shembo to fill in the gaps.
