Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has been suspended one game for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
Bowe will be allowed to practice and play throughout the preseason. He will miss the season opener against the Tennessee Titans on September 7 at home.
Bowe released a statement taking responsibility for making an error in judgment and apologizing to the team and their fans.
Bowe was arrested in November in Riverside, Missouri for possession of marijuana. He pleaded guilty in April to littering and defective equipment. The marijuana charge was dismissed when the passenger from the vehicle admitted to the drug belonging to them and that Bowe was unaware it was in the car.
Chiefs have several receivers to replace Bowe for the season opener including Junior Hemingway, A.J. Jenkins, Kyle Williams and rookie Albert Wilson.
