Giants RB David Wilson Out for the Season

David Wilson will not be returning from injury this season. According to ESPN, the New York Giants are ending the young running back's season due to a burner he sustained in his neck last week during practice.

Wilson was set to make a return after having spinal fusion surgery in January to repair a disk issue. He was injured during a collision in practice last Tuesday.

Tuesday night Wilson was sent to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York for tests and Wednesday the Giants announced Wilson would miss the rest of the week of practice and the preseason opening game.  He is scheduled to meet with the doctor who performed his spinal surgery on Monday.

Giants have plenty of backup options to replace Wilson. The team picked up Rashad Jennings and Peyton Hillis in free agency and drafted Andre Williams in the fourth round.

Wilson is likely headed to injured reserve for the season, but the injury could potentially end his young career.
