Injury Report and Key Losses

Players continue to play even through the most grueling of injuries. Sometimes however, players are injured for a few games or even the season. Some players roles are small enough that their impact won't effect the whole team, but some players are so key that their loss is major. Here are some of those players.

Baltimore Ravens

Player-LB Ray Lewis
Injury- torn tricep muscle
Return- N/A-season ending

While CB Lardarius Webb was also loss for the season, Lewis is the heart and soul of the Ravens organization, having been with the team since their arrival in Baltimore. His loss is felt most in the leadership and team building he brings to the Ravens. The first game after his season ending injury was a blowout loss to the Texans showing how quickly the impact of his loss was felt. Talks are that with his age, he may have to consider retirement, but this is unlikely in a player of Lewis's caliber.

New York Jets

Player- CB Darelle Revis
Injury- torn left ACL
Return- N/A-season ending

Player- WR Santonio Holmes
Injury- Left foot lisfranc injury
Return- N/A- season ending

2 days after announcing the loss of Reavis for the season, Jets loss Holmes as well. Reavis is a crucial piece to the Jets secondary, referred to as "Reavis Island" he is a threat in the backfield. Now the Jets will have to find a way to shore up the secondary on his side of the ball which will not be an easy feat. Holmes is one of the most reliable first down receivers. His loss has an immediate impact on an offense that is already struggling to score. This may be a tough season with both of these players gone.

Houston Texans

Player- LB Brian Cushing
Injury- torn left ACL
Return-N/A- season ending

The former rookie of the year has been an integral part of the Texans defense. They have still managed to play the tough hard nose football they are known for, but his loss on the interior of their line was still significant.

Indianapolis Colts

Player- WR Austin Collie
Injury- ruptured right patellar tendon
Return-N/A- season ending

Collie was to take over the #2 receiver slot with Garcon leaving in the off-season, however, the injury ended his season before it could begin. Colts are struggling this season under rookie QB Andrew Luck and the loss of Collie is definitely a contributing factor.

Kansas City Chiefs

Player- TE Kevin Boss
Injury- Concussion
Return- N/A- season ending

Chiefs have struggled for the last several years to score on offense. The additon of Boss was to help them in their passing and blocking gam but they will now have to continue to rely on TE Tony Moeaki.

Oakland Raiders

Player- WR Jacoby Ford
Injury- Foot
Return- N/A- season ending

Raiders have several decent receivers so the loss of Ford isn't devastating but has definitely made a difference in some of their deep threat plays this season.

Washington Redskins

Player- LB Brian Orakpo
Injury- torn left pectoral muscle
Return- N/A-season ending

Player- TE Fred Davis
Injury- torn left achilles tendon
Return- N/A- season ending

The defense suffered a major blow very early in the season with the loss of Orakpo who is key in the center of their line. The difference has been noticeable but they're scraping by. This may change however now with the leading receiver Davis loss for the season just last week. This may have a significant impact on their offense since Davis is Griffin's favorite and most reliable target.

Detroit Lions

Player- WR Nate Burleson
Injury- broken right leg
Return- N/A- season ending

As if things werent bad enough for the Lions they have now lost Burleson for the season. Burleson is a solid #2 receiver so his loss will definitely have an impact on this team which is struggling to find wins this season.

Green Bay Packers

Player- RB Cedric Benson
Injury- Left foot Lisfranc injury
Return- N/A- season ending

Packers is definitely a case of the walking wounded with so many players playing hurt, but their running game took a huge blow when Benson went down. They have struggled in the run game since but they have an effective passing game which does help against the loss.

Arizona Cardinals

Player- RB Beanie Wells
Injury- severe turf toe
Return- N/A- season ending

Cardinals loss Wells very early in the season and since then the running game behind RB Ryan Williams has yet to score a TD. This may be a long season for them if they can't get production in the rushing game.
