Texans Agree to Contract Extension With DE J.J. Watt

The Houston Texans and defensive end J.J. Watt have reached agreement on a six-year contract extension that will keep the young star with the team through 2021.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the deal is reportedly worth $100 million with $51.876 million guaranteed, the most guaranteed money paid to a defensive player in history.Watt was scheduled to make just $1.9 million in base salary this season.

Watt has been one of the most dominant defensive players in the league since being drafted by the Texans in 2011. He won defensive player of the year in 2012, is a two time Pro Bowler, and has amassed 217 tackles, 36.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles in his three years in the NFL.
