College Watch- Cam Newton

The Auburn Tigers finished with a perfect 13-0 record (8-0 in the SEC) and won the SEC championship game on their way to a BCS national championship game on Jan. 10th. They are ranked #1 in the AP Poll and the BCS Standings and will face #2 Oregon. Auburn's coach Gene Chizik was named the SEC Coach of the Year by the Associated Press and DT Nick Fairley was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and 2010 Rotary Lombardi Award. Auburn has had an incredible season playing fantastic on both sides of the ball. The biggest contributor to their success has been the unbelievable play of QB Cam Newton.

Cam Newton is a 6'6/250 lb touchdown monster. He is big, strong, fast and has a gun for an arm. His overall passer rating for the season is an impressive 129.6% having thrown for 2589 yds, 28 TDs and only 6 INTs. Newton was named the 2010 SEC Offensive Player of the Year. He is also one of four finalists for the 2010 Heisman Trophy which will be announced Dec. 11th.

Cam has been mired in controversy since his days at Florida and have continued this year with a new pay-for-play scandal. Despite this fact, he will still be a heavily sought after player and is predicted to be drafted somewhere in the mid 1st round in the 2011 NFL Draft.
