Will Hackett's firing and Bortles benching turn the tide for the Jaguars?

This week after another atrocious loss on Sunday, the Jaguars made the decision to fire offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. While the team's offense has remained in the top five in total defense, the offense has continued to struggle throughout the season ranking in the bottom third in both passing and total offense. Besides terminating Hackett, the team made the decision to bench Blake Bortles. has a career completion percentage of 59.3 and has nearly as many career interceptions (74) as touchdowns (103).

Jaguars signed Bortles to a three-year contract extension this offseason guarantee the young talent would be in Jacksonville through 2020. His benching now signifies that the team may have grown weary of his lack of consistency and high turnover ratio. Whether or not the team will stick with Bortles after this season remains to be seen but in the meantime Cody Kessler will get an opportunity to try to lead this team back to winning, a feat they haven't achieved since Week 4.
