The Chicago Bears have had a poor showing on offense this season and have decided to make changes.
The team have benched quarterback Jay Cutler and will start Jimmy Clausen this Sunday against the Lions in Chicago.
Cutler has thrown 18 interceptions and had 24 turnovers total so far this season. He produced a season-low passer rating of 55.8 and was sacked a season-high seven times against the Saints this past weekend. He also generated a total QBR of 6.8, his second-worst performance of the season behind a 6.0 QBR in Week 10 against the Green Bay Packers.
Bears defense has ranked among the league's worst the past two seasons and have gone from second to 19th in scoring this year.
Cutler is the highest-paid offensive player in the NFL this season at $22.5 million and signed a seven-year contract after last season.
Clausen was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2010 where he went 1-9 his first season before Panthers drafted Cam Newton in 2011. Bears signed him as Cutler's backup in June.
