Randy Gregory suspended indefinitely

Randy Gregory has once again ended up on the wrong side of the National Football League.

The league announced on Tuesday that Gregory has been suspended indefinitely for violation of the league's substance abuse policy. This is Gregory's fourth suspension since being drafted by the Cowboys in 2015.

Gregory was suspended four games in his rookie season and while serving the suspension was suspended for an additional 10 games resulting in him playing in just two games in 2016. He was suspended the entire 2017 season before making a successful return in 2018.

Last season Gregory finished second in sacks behind DeMarcus Lawrence. There was hope he had finally turned the corner in his life.

Gregory has been outspoken about suffering with mental illness and using marijuana to cope with mental and emotional problems. Gregory reportedly suffers from bipolar disorder. With the NFL's strict stance against marijuana this has been a difficult issue for Gregory to deal with.

Cowboys are standing behind the 25-year old talent and hopeful he can make a return in 2019. "We’re going to keep working and cheering for him. I think he’s just got to take the next step both on and off the field," vice president Stephen Jones said.

Brown took to Twitter on Tuesday to post a message about his meeting with owner Art Rooney II:

NFL settles collusion lawsuit with Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid

The collusion case between the NFL and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid has come to a resolution.

On Friday Kaepernick's attorney Mark Geragos and the NFL released a joint statement: "For the past several months Mr. Kaepernick and Mr. Reid have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL. As a result of those discussions, the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement so there will be no further comment by any party."

The NFLPA released a statement in support of the settlement: “Today, we were informed by the NFL of the settlement of the Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid collusion cases,” the NFLPA said. “We are not privy to the details of the settlement, but support the decision by the players and their counsel. We continuously supported Colin and Eric from the start of their protests, participated with their lawyers throughout their legal proceedings and were prepared to participate in the upcoming trial in pursuit of both truth and justice for what we believe the NFL and its clubs did to them. We are glad that Eric has earned a job and a new contract and we continue to hope that Colin gets his opportunity as well.”

Details of the settlement were not released. Kaepernick's kneeling for social injustice and inequality caused a firestorm and a national debate that culminated in President Trump speaking out against the protests. The league instituted a rule to ban protest during the national anthem that was never implemented.

While Reid has found employment with the Carolina Panthers, Kaepernick has not played since 2016. This settlement may end any chances of his return.

Baltimore Ravens to trade quarterback Joe Flacco to Denver Broncos

Joe Flacco
Baltimore Ravens are committing long-term to Lamar Jackson.

According to ESPN the Ravens are trading Joe Flacco to the Denver Broncos for a mid-round pick. The trade will not become official until the start of the league year on March 13th.

This move ensures that the Broncos will be moving on from Case Keenum. After an outstanding 2017 campaign for the Vikings, Broncos signed Keenum to a two-year $36 million deal with $25 million guaranteed. His 2018 season was a disappointment with a completion percentage of just 62.3 percent and a QB rating of 46.9 percent. Broncos will shop Keenum who is guaranteed $7 million in 2019.

The addition of Joe Flacco is by no means an upgrade for the Broncos. According to NFL Research, since 2013, Flacco ranks 34th in quarterback rating, 35th in yards per attempt and 35th in touchdown percentage. Ravens have missed the playoffs five out of six years with Flacco and in his 11 year NFL career Flacco has never been selected to a Pro Bowl. He was benched for Lamar Jackson midseason last year.

John Elway has had a terrible track record with selecting quarterbacks. While signing Peyton Manning worked out in the team's favor before his retirement, the team also drafted Brock Osweiler in 2012 who started 21 games over four seasons before signing with the Texans where he lasted one season before being shipped off to Cleveland and ending up back in Denver and then signing with the Dolphins for one-year in 2018. Trevor Siemian was drafted by the Broncos in 2015. He lasted three seasons before being traded to the Vikings. Paxton Lynch was drafted by the team in 2016. He lasted two seasons before being cut before the start of the 2018 season.

Broncos still hold the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. It is likely they will draft a quarterback to learn under Flacco's tutelage this season.

Antonio Brown may be finished in Pittsburgh.

According to Adam Schefter, Brown requested a trade from the Steelers on Tuesday.

Brown took to Twitter to post a farewell message to the city of Pittsburgh.

Brown has spent his entire nine year NFL career with the Steelers. In that time he has amassed 837 receptions for 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns making him one of the most prolific receivers of all time. Despite this, the team has not won a Super Bowl during this time.

Continuing tension has arose between the team and Brown. Brown missed meetings during the last week of the season and didn't play in Week 17. There have also been issues between Brown and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

While the Steelers haven't said they will trade Brown they have made preparations for that scenario and could garner as much as a first round draft pick for the talented receiver.

Super Bowl LIII Prediction

New England Patriots vs. Los Angeles Rams

Patriots come in off an impressive win over the Chiefs. The Pats are a different team in the postseason being nearly unstoppable. While there were lingering questions about the team's defense leading up to their matchup against the Chiefs, all of this was laid to rest within the first half of the game. While the Chiefs were able to mount a comeback, they were no match for Brady and the Pats amazing offense. This team will be hard to beat on the biggest stage.

Rams come in off a controversial yet still tremendous win over the Saints. While the defense struggled in the team's three losses this season, they were able to make key stops in the Championship. Goff stepped up and looked like a solid veteran and Todd Gurley showed why he was the offensive player of the year in 2018. Sean McVay will have this team ready to face any challenge the Pats may throw their way.

Rams had one of the top offenses in the league all season and will give the Patriots all they can handle, but the Pats will not lose back to back Super Bowls with Belichick and Brady leading the charge.

Prediction: Patriots
