The 49ers have had enough of the troubles involving their defensive lineman Ray McDonald.
The team announced Wednesday they have released the standout tackle amidst allegations of sexual assault.
The latest problems stem from an investigation by San Jose Police on Tuesday night. A young woman alleged to have been possibly assaulted by McDonald a day prior. McDonald's home was searched during the probe into the woman's allegations. McDonald has not been arrested on any charges.
McDonald was investigated earlier this season for a domestic violence charge involving his fiancée. Santa Clara County DA's office declined to file charges due to lack of verifiable witnesses and lack of cooperation from the victim.
The NFL will conduct its own investigation but will not interfere with law enforcement. The alleged incident is covered by its new conduct policy.
An NFLPA source says that no determination has been made on whether McDonald will file a grievance over his release.
